The Stevenson's of Paisley
John & Annie Circa 1886 Annie Stevenson nee Crichton John Stevenson
| My Grandparents, John Stevenson and Annie Crichton are pictured above. The picture at the left was taken in LaSalle, Illinois, USA. At some point after their marriage, they immigrated to America. To the best of my knowledge John worked in mining. I suspect he was in iron mining because iron miner was listed in the 1881 Census as his occupation. While living in the US Annie gave birth to their first two children, Isabella "Isa", b. October 3, 1886 then Agnes b. January 12, 1888. These two girls never married and lived their lives together. I have no knowledge that they ever lived apart. They shared a house in Dunoon in the 1950's. The Stevenson's returned to Paisley by 1891 where Annie gave birth to their first son, John, my uncle. |

| In the photographs above, three of the Stevenson sons are pictured in their WW1 army uniforms. All came back. I don't know what the others did but my father told me he was in charge of the officer's mess. Nice Job. I know he cooked the best scrambled eggs I've ever had. |
Well, here I am with my mom Dorothy and dad George in a 1952 family portrait.
